A Love Letter to Oregon Pinot Blanc

This wine is just flat out amazing. This complex, full body, texture driven wine is filled with melon, pear, vanilla, honey, and a toasty charred charastic. This Pinot Blanc was fermented and aged in French oak barrels to give it more complexity and body. This is a white wine that is drinking great now, or you can lay it down in the cellar and age it for a few more years to bring out more complexity.

"Wow, this wine is good. I always like when a winemaker can make something great out of a grape not known for complexity. As with any wine outside of Europe I am not sure what the “reserve” means and don’t believe it needs to be there, but I digress. Soft acidity, a coating palate, with floral notes such as wisteria and lilly tinged with hints of lime and nectarine pith. There is a bit of that dry white peach and pear on the palate as well. Even though the acidity is low the wine is alive. If we are gonna be planting this grape in the states, this is what we should be going for" Vinepair.com, Keith Beavers.

“(fermented and aged in used French oak barrels) Light green-tinged yellow. Ripe pear, Meyer lemon, honey, chamomile and vanilla on the deeply perfumed nose. Chewy and nicely concentrated, offering pear nectar, lemon gelato and smoky mineral flavors that pick up a gingery nuance with aeration. Lingers with strong tenacity on the finish, leaving lively floral and citrus fruit notes behind.” 91 points. Josh Raynolds, Vinous, February 2018.

“The steely, crisp fruit has been softened up a bit by barrel fermentation, which also adds a light toasty note. The core remains firm, with freshly sliced apple and pear fruit and a smooth lingering finish.” 90 points. Paul Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast, April 2018.

“The 2016 Pinot Blanc Reserve opens with wood smoke and candle wax notes over red apple skin, acacia honey, toast and warm earth nuances. Light to medium-bodied with good concentration of red apple and honeyed flavors in the mouth plus toasty accents, it finishes with refreshing acidity and a touch of phenolic grip. 149 cases produced.” 90 points, Wine Advocate.

"The label says Oregon, but this drinks like it just got off the boat from Burgundy. It is fermented and aged in French oak, but that process doesn’t knock out the fab fruit. Bet it’s going to be even better with a few years of aging, but it’s also pretty tough to resist drinking it right now." Sip Northwest, A Love Letter to Oregon Pinot Blanc. May 2018.
